What is The Match® by National Resident Matching Program®?
The Match®, conducted by the National Resident Matching Program® (NRMP), is the process that pairs graduating medical students with residency programs in America. After interviewing with programs, both applicants and residency programs submit ranked preference lists. Using a computerized algorithm, the Match process aligns the preferences of both groups to assign applicants to residency slots. Match results are released annually on Match Day.
What is Match Day?
Match Day is a highly anticipated milestone for medical students as Match results determines where they will continue their medical residency training. Medical schools across America host Match Day celebrations to congratulate their students on their achievements and to send them off with best wishes as they begin the next chapter of their medical careers.
What are HoU Match Moments?
HoU Match Moments are similar celebratory occasion(s) for international or foreign medical graduates (IMGs/FMGs) who successfully matched in residency program but did not experience the joys of the traditional Match Day. They allow the greater IMG/FMG community to unite in congratulating their fellow IMGs/FMGs on their achievements as they begin the next chapter of their medical careers.
